Corning, NY- Pro Truck Tour is forced to postpone Clinton
County date.
The Race set for 7-25-2008 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds
Speedway in Lock Haven PA. has been indefinitely postponed. During
a phone conversation with Promoter Vern Wasson and Mike Warren,
Truck Counts and travel expenses were discussed. “With several teams
falling out after the last few races due to either mechanical or financial
reasons, it was unrealistic for us to see half a field showing up for
competition. When we (Wasson and Warren) scheduled this date fuel
was still $2.80 a gallon, there are just too many factors working against
us now.”
Wasson did however extend an invitation to the teams that still wanted
to compete at the Speedway, to run with his pro stocks, which are not
quite what we saw at Genesee a few weeks ago, but after going over
rule books both decided it would be as even a race as we could see.
The full purse can bee seen at www.clintoncountyraceway.com and is
very comparable to the normal truck purse. “ This is a great deal for the
fans and the teams alike. “ Said Warren “ Vern has told me how much
interest the Trucks have generated in PA and there has never been
anything like what we run on the raceway there. This also gives our
teams a chance to race a venue they normally would not get a chance
to race on.”
So as not to disturb any points battles in the pro stock ranks, and the
end of the night the trucks would be removed from the finishing order
and the pro stocks will get their respective points based on a pro stock
finish. The same will go for the Pro Trucks, Any team that makes the trip
will be awarded tour points based on the Truck finishing order. The
reason Warren stated he is offering tour points, is incentive for the
teams that still want to race to show up. Vern has supported us through
thick and thin, and we want to try and help support him and give his fans
a show they can talk about all week.
