Practice laps loom for Regional Pro Truck Tour at Genesee
CORNING, NY -- Preseason shows are followed by Preseason test sessions, and there's no shortage
of those on the horizon before the Regional ProTruck Tour's Season Opener May 10th at Genesee
Speedway (Batavia, NY).
Next month, the series will practice April 12 and 13 at Woodhull (NY) Raceway, Skyline Raceway
(Blodgett Mills, NY (April 17), Batavia's Genesee Speedway April 19, and Redline Raceway in
Granville, PA April 25.
"The dates are fairly close together, but we should see some teams out to get some seat time as we
know they are itching to get back behind the wheel," Warren said.
Batavia's Genesee Speedway is also the closest track to the tour's headline sponsor Regional
International, will host the 2008 lid lifter May 10.
The event has been dubbed the “All-Pro” Challenge, as the full size trucks will take on their lower slung
cousins in the main event.
"This should be an exciting event as both classes have enjoyed increasing car counts," Warren said.
"Genesee has seen an influx of Pro Stocks from other area tracks, and the creation of several new
trucks teams will make this a great show for not only the fans, but the drivers as well.
"We think a lot of teams are excited to be able to race with a full field of 20-25 race vehicles."
RPTT series points for the trucks will be awarded based on truck finish (1st truck across the line
awarded 1st place points, 2nd truck, second place points and so on).
After that, teams will head to Woodhull Raceway For the Second annual Memorial Day event May 26
worth $800 to the winner. Last year, Chris Leroux made his way to the front and was able to hold off
Terry Povoski in convincing fashion for his second career win, and his first on the tour. The first runner
up will pocket $400.
Then tour will then visit Redline Speedway (Troy, PA) June 13. The series treks off to Skyline
Speedway (Cortland, NY) June 21 before returning to Genesee July 5. The series lone stop at Clinton
County (PA) Fairground is July 25, with a second-year visit to Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center
Lisle, NY Aug. 8. The tour will make return trips to Redline (Aug. 22) and Woodhull (Sept. 20) to finish
out the schedule.
