Thunder Mountain added to Scheduled Aug. 8
CORNING, NY -- Thunder Mountain Speedway (Center Lisle, NY) has been added to the
schedule, on August 8.
“Originally, Dick Stark had discussed running a two night event, Thunder on Friday, then Skyline
on Saturday with a pit party between the events,” Warren said. “Teams were split 50\50 about
the deal, and the Tour has decided to side with caution to make sure teams had the best
opportunity to make both shows.
Stark offered use of his shop should anyone need it, but some things that just cant be replaced
overnight and that influenced the decision.
"We are still entertaining the idea of a sponsor for both events," Warren said.
Back-to-back events were appealing; should someone win both races, talk of a bonus program
made the pendulum swing the opposite way.
"We want to try and help these two great tracks co-exist, " Warren said, pointing out Thunder
Mountain has moved to Friday nights to work with and help promote action at Skyline.
"I am excited about being able to go to Skyline AND Thunder this year," Warren continued.
"Frank and Audrey have worked with us to make this race happen, and we hope to put on a
better show than the last time the trucks were invited up several years ago. Both tracks are fast
and
smooth, and offer enough room for some great 3 wide racing."
Scheduling these events later in the season will hopefully avoid the iffy early season weather;
last year's feature at Thunder Mountain fell to a rain out.
