Povoski Seals Regional International Pro Truck Tour Title with Win at Black Rock
Dundee, NY… Terry Povoski knew that the best way to seal the deal on the Regional
International Pro Truck Tour title was to win, and win he did. Chris Leroux went into Saturday
night’s tour finale within mathematical striking distance, but Povoski removed all the variables
by capping off a dominating season with yet another win at the Yates County speed plant.
Povoski jumped to the early lead and never looked back, as the rest of the field jockeyed for
position. It appeared as if the night would be over early for Leroux, as he headed pit side with
a serious vibration early in the race. The vibration was found to be nothing more than a clump
of mud in the right rear rim, and Leroux rejoined the field without losing a lap. With Leroux
working his way back through the pack, Jared Hill was working hard on Povoski’s back
bumper, until he was sidelined with a broken axle, which earned him the Jack’s Auto Hard
Luck Award. Mike Warren, driving the #8 Dodge, would own the runner-up spot for a few
laps, until Leroux completed his run through the pack and take over the chase for Povoski’s
rear bumper. Leroux’s valiant charge would come up one spot short however, with Warren
holding strong for a solid third place finish.
Jason White kept his #35 truck in the top five all night and would cross the stripe in fourth,
followed by Doug Buckley rounding out the top five. Despite the broken axle, Jared Hill laid
claim to sixth, with Adam Bruni taking home seventh. Bill Edminster picked up 8th, with Tom
Jack finishing ninth. Jessica Pierce, driving Mike Warren’s #5J, suffered more engine woes
and limped home for tenth.
All 25 laps of the season finale were sponsored by various tour partners, which increased the
take-home pay for all 10 trucks in attendance. Plans are in the works for a season ending
awards banquet and a rules meeting to establish the guidelines for the 2008 Pro Truck Tour.
