The season is underway, but not quite like anyone wanted. Cloudy
skies and intermittent showers made getting the track surface ready to
race a task, but the Crew at Thunder Mountain did everything they could
to get the show in. After a rain delay, we were able to get our qualifying
heat race in, but then Mother Nature stole the show. I think every driver
has to agree, that after hot laps, we knew this was going to be a fun
race. The surface was smooth, had a lot of traction and it looked like
there would be room to run three wide in some places. Due to
scheduling conflicts. The drivers decided to call the race complete,
giving Ralph Champion Jr. his first feature win in a Pro Truck, and
becoming the first driver to take the Checkers in the Inaugural Series
Race. After Talking with Track Promoter Dick Stark, another date will
be announced as soon as schedules are looked over. Several dates
have been discussed.
" We REALLY want to come back up, so the fans get to see these
trucks in a full feature, there was a lot of excitement from the fans and
even some drivers in other classes. " Its only fair we do our best to
reschedule as soon as possible.
Every driver I spoke with agreed, this was a new surface and a great
learning experience. We cant wait to come back. We also would like
to give Dick Stark a HUGE thank you from all the teams for having us.
Looking forward to a warm summer day, to get some laps on the fast
track.
Next event on the Tour is Memorial Day at Woodhull Raceway. More
coming soon about that race. Stay tuned
